Palmetto Boys State is now accepting applications for its session to be held this summer at Anderson University from June 8-14. The application must be submitted to Kevin Kirkley in Counseling by March 28.
Palmetto Boys State is a program sponsored by the American Legion. Boys who exhibit strong leadership skills and who have just completed their junior year of high school are excellent candidates. Students learn about government and actively create a mock state government with all three branches. Students can read more about Boys State at startpbs.com. Palmetto Boys State is an excellent opportunity to build leadership skills, and it is a strong activity to have as part of a college resume.
The local post of the American Legion has provided Dreher the opportunity to recommend delegates for the program. Students who are interested in attending should complete the application form linked above and return it to Kevin Kirkley in the counseling office by March 28, 2025. Hard copies of the form are also available in the counseling office. A panel will convene to select the delegates from Dreher. The cost to students for the weeklong program is $420. Please feel free to contact Mr. Kirkley with any questions.
