Grade-Specific News from the Counseling Department

SENIOR FINAL END-OF-YEAR CHECKLIST 

Seniors, Congratulations!

Please review this list carefully.  Here is a checklist of tasks for Graduation and beyond: 

1. IMPORTANT—Graduation, Colonial Life Arena, May 28, 8:00 am.  Arrive no later than 7:15 am.  Doors close at 7:45 am for graduates and guests.  CLA has a clear bag policy.  Graduation will be live streamed on the Richland One website: https://www.richlandone.org/ 

2. Seniors who need their final transcripts sent to a college must place a request using Dreher’s transcript service, Parchment.  Students can create an account at www.parchment.com and send a transcript electronically to any college in the United States.  Students can place a request now via Parchment; they should select the option to “hold for grades” in order to ensure that their final transcript is the one that is sent.  Students should request their transcript to be sent no later than June 12 in order to ensure processing before the counseling office closes for the summer break.  Final transcripts will be available for sending in June. 

3. Complete the Senior Plans Form (if you have not already done so) at https://forms.office.com/r/KmKv87Cfrj.  This is required of every senior in order to receive a diploma.  

4. Diplomas will be mailed following graduation in early June to the address we have on file in PowerSchool.  If your address in PowerSchool is not current, please contact Dreher’s registrar, Quenna Smith, at (803) 253-7020 or quenna.smith@richlandone.org  no later than May 23 (ASAP) so that she can ensure your diploma is mailed to the correct address.  Diplomas will not be mailed for any students who have outstanding debts.  Debts must be paid to the main office before diplomas will be mailed or released. 

5. AP students have until June 20 to send their AP scores to colleges for free (after that, there is a fee).  In order to designate their free score recipient, Seniors should log onto https://myap.collegeboard.org.

Congratulations on nearly reaching the end of your senior year.  The counseling department has a number of tasks that you must complete in order to be prepared for graduation and earning your diploma.  The checklist of tasks is below:

1. 4.     Senior Awards Night will take place in the Dreher auditorium on May 22 at 6:00 p.m.  Seniors and their families are invited.  Students should arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. in order to line up outside the auditorium for the processional.  Students should wear dressy attire (dress, suit, or nice shirt and pants) for the ceremony.  Students will receive honor cords and awards at the ceremony, and the winners of the Dreher Foundation scholarships will be announced.  A reception for seniors and their parents will follow.

5.   If you are a senior who has newly met the criteria for the Palmetto Fellows scholarship or who is re-taking the SAT and/or ACT in May or June in order to potentially qualify for the Palmetto Fellows scholarship, please contact Kevin Kirkley in the counseling office no later than May 23 at kevin.kirkley@richlandone.org so that he can help you with the required application.  If you previously submitted an application for Palmetto Fellows earlier this year, there is no need to reapply; this is purely for seniors who have newly qualified or who are re-taking the SAT or ACT in May or June in hopes of qualifying.  Guidelines for Palmetto Fellows can be accessed here:  https://www.che.sc.gov/students-families-and-military/scholarships-and-grants-sc-residents
